Colors and Grids

For this project, we were supposed to experiment with color, mood, and variety. We took multiple pictures that had distinctive color in them. We used some of these photographs to create grids. This project required a lot of creativity because we had to come up with different ways to create original grids. In addition, we took "mood photographs". We edited simple pictures into photographs with feeling and depth.

Monochrome Grid

This is my monochrome grid, because it is in various tones of one color. I took all of these pictures at the Seattle Aquarium. I really like the color scheme in this grid. It brings out the main subject of the photos, but it ties them all together. I decreased the exposure of the entire grid and I brought up the highlights.

Warm Colors

This is my warm color grid. In this grid, I chose multiple pictures that had the same purple and pink color theme. The fact that they all have a similar color ties the whole grid together. The mood of this grid is mysterious and happy.

Cool Colors

This is my cool color scheme grid. The main colors in this grid are blue, green, and white. Together, the colors give off a dystopian feeling. This grid is my backyard, a forest. My goal was to take multiple photographs of one place that I could put together to recreate a larger picture. I wanted there to be a sense of confusion in my grid.

Color Complements

For my color complements grid, I mixed photos of a blue flower, an orange flower, and a deep blue bridge picture. These photos are so different, but they all come together really well.

Mood Photographs

This is my favorite mood photograph. I edited this photo by decreasing the exposure and bringing up the blacks and highlights. I also increased the saturation to bring out the yellow of the shirt. Finally, I cropped the image to focus on the girl. The editing of this photo makes it seem mysterious and dark.

For the editing, I brought up the saturation to make all of the colors pop. I decreased the exposure and I added a vignette to the original photo. This photograph gives off a happy and joyful mood as long as a mysterious feeling.
