Project 3- Balance, Contrast, and Motion
While we were taking photographs for this project, we were supposed to watch out for contrast, motion, balance, and depth of field. All of my pictures include at least one of these important techniques. We also created a multitude of kaleidoscopes. I really enjoyed working on depth of field and experimenting with contrast.

Colors and Grids
For this project, we were supposed to experiment with color, mood, and variety. We took multiple pictures that had distinctive color in them. We used some of these photographs to create grids. This project required a lot of creativity because we had to come up with different ways to create original grids. In addition, we took "mood photographs". We edited simple pictures into photographs with feeling and depth.
Monochrome Grid
This is my monochrome grid, because it is in various tones of one color. I took all of these pictures at the Seattle Aquarium. I really like the color scheme in this grid. It brings out the main subject of the photos, but it ties them all together. I decreased the exposure of the entire grid and I brought up the highlights.
Warm Colors
This is my warm color grid. In this grid, I chose multiple pictures that had the same purple and pink color theme. The fact that they all have a similar color ties the whole grid together. The mood of this grid is mysterious and happy.
Cool Colors
This is my cool color scheme grid. The main colors in this grid are blue, green, and white. Together, the colors give off a dystopian feeling. This grid is my backyard, a forest. My goal was to take multiple photographs of one place that I could put together to recreate a larger picture. I wanted there to be a sense of confusion in my grid.
Color Complements
For my color complements grid, I mixed photos of a blue flower, an orange flower, and a deep blue bridge picture. These photos are so different, but they all come together really well.
More Grids...
Mood Photographs
This is my favorite mood photograph. I edited this photo by decreasing the exposure and bringing up the blacks and highlights. I also increased the saturation to bring out the yellow of the shirt. Finally, I cropped the image to focus on the girl. The editing of this photo makes it seem mysterious and dark.
For the editing, I brought up the saturation to make all of the colors pop. I decreased the exposure and I added a vignette to the original photo. This photograph gives off a happy and joyful mood as long as a mysterious feeling.

Project 2- Color PreWork
Color Wheel
Mood or Tone Through Color
The intense white color in this photograph, taken by Christina Seely, gives the viewer a sense of loneliness. Oftentimes, white is associated with a lonely mood. In addition, the brightness and color of the photo makes the viewer feel like he is in the middle of nowhere. As for the editing, I think that Christina Seely brought up the brightness and whiteness of the photo and muted other colors that could have been present, such as blue.

Project 2- Framing and Composition
For this project, we were supposed to take pictures using eight photography techniques; Rule of Thirds, Frame within a Frame, Close up, Bird’s Eye View, Bug’s Eye View, Leading Lines, Diagonals, and Filling the Frame. Keeping these techniques in mind while shooting photos helped me think about how I was taking the pictures and I think that these thoughts were reflected in the quality of my photos. I got some of my pictures during walking field trips, but I shot most of my photos out on my own. I edited all of the photos and got the chance to try out different editing techniques in Light room. These are some of my favorite photographs.
My Contact Sheets
Rule of Thirds
I chose this photograph because it tells a story and it gives off a dark and creepy mood. I feel like the editing completely transformed this picture into a work of art. For this photograph, I changed multiple things. I did not crop the image because I took it as a rule of thirds picture, and cropping it would change it's original intent. I decreased the temperature and the tint of the original photo. This created a slightly alien and "cold" vibe to the photo. I also decreased the exposure in order to make the picture more dark. However, I wanted the sunlight, the girl, and the doors of the shed to be the main focus, so I highlighted them and I darkened the rest of the image. Finally, I increased the clarity of the image.
Frame Within a Frame
This is one of my favorite photographs, because it is so unexpected. I didn't know that the car and the train were going to pass at the exact moment that I took the picture. I love the fact that the blurry background leads the eye to the focus of the picture, the girl in the frame. I started out by cropping this picture a little bit to focus on the Frame. I also increased the whites and the blacks and increased the clarity. I lowered the exposure a little bit and added a subtle dark vignette.

Filling the Frame
I like the intense red color in this image. It makes me think of passion. Moreover, I like the texture and pattern in this photograph. As for the editing, I increased the warmth and red tint of the photo. I darkened the shadows and gave the highlights a purple/ pink tint. The editing made this photograph more dramatic.

Frame Within a Frame
Close Up
I chose this photograph, because it is different and more original than other close-ups. Most of my close-ups were of flowers, which is an obvious way to go, but this picture is more intriguing. I love the rust on the chain because it adds so much color to the picture. For the editing, I brought down the exposure and increased the shadows, without eliminating the crucial highlights. In addition, I brought up the clarity and the contrast. I put a subtle vignette on the photo.
I chose this picture because I really enjoy taking picture of people. I think that this photograph shows emotion. As for the editing, I turned the picture black and white, making sure that the whites were highlighted. I colored the flower because I wanted the eye to be drawn to it. The flower represents all of the good things in a "black and white world".
The editing in this picture might seem minor, but it makes all the difference. I chose this picture, because I love nature and it is all around me, whether I look up or down. In addition, I love the shadows and the colors in this photo. For the editing, I increased the clarity and darkened the shadows. I slightly brought down the exposure. I could have chosen a more mysterious, black and white picture, but I thought that the colors in this image were essential to its nature side.
I chose this picture because I just love the intensity and size of these lines. I took this picture at the "Tilikum Crossing" and I thought that the geometry and lines in this piece of art were incredible. I wanted to make this photograph more dramatic and mysterious, so I changed the colors to black and yellow. I use a graduated filter to turn the sky black and I lightened the yellow on the lines to make them the center of attention.
I chose this picture because the diagonals are incredibly clear and you wonder what they are. I also really like that the background is the sky. I brought down the exposure and made the background a darker shade of blue. I increased the clarity and added some grain to the image. This editing makes the photo seem industrial, which I think is interesting and original. Finally, I used the graduated filter to turn the clouds in the upper right hand corner grey. This makes it look as if the sky is turning dark little by little.
